Having bespoke boutiques that cater to specific needs can be nice, but when it comes to footwear, sometimes a one-stop-shop is key. After all, one can never have enough shoes (and I don’t know about you, but browsing can be half the fun). Established in 1998, Heel Boy is the perfect shopping experience for those of us that are more, shall we say, open to suggestions (and lots of them).
Owned by Chloe Raincock and founded in Kingston, Ontario, Heel Boy has since opened additional locations in Waterloo, Queen Street West and the Distillery District. Heel Boy prides itself on having something for everyone and for every occasion and after my recent visit to the Distillery location, I can attest to that fact.
Though the set up is quite simple – concrete floors, a few tall shelving units overflowing with footwear, glass cases filled to the brim with accessories and very minimal furnishings – the impact is far from underwhelming. The veritable sea of shoes (for both men and women) ranged from Hot Date Chic to Rainy Day Attire, price points spanned from high to low and designers varied from local to one-of-a-kind.
As if the sheer number of options weren’t enough, the service was exemplary. The sales staff is not only knowledgeable but dedicated to your every need and of course, they are more than happy to bask in mutual shoe euphoria with you.
So next time you’re in a serious rut and all your typical shoe haunts have failed you (been there, done that), be sure to check out your nearest Heel Boy for an experience that won’t disappoint!
