SO, WHAT DOES GUSTO 101 MEAN?
Gusto? Literally, “tasty” in Italian. The 101 is where to find them on Portland street.
WHO’S THE OWNER?
Gusto’s owner is Janet Zuccarini, owner of Trattoria Nervosa in Yorkville since 1996. It is her passion for unique dining experiences that can be seen in every element of Gusto 101 – from the memorable food and wine to the cozy, yes cozy, industrial décor. She’s a certified pizzaiola, seasoned traveler who seeks out the best ideas wherever she goes and … someone you’d want to follow on Instagram.
WHAT’S WITH THE SPACE?
Leading interiors firm Munge Leung took our abandoned, industrial auto body shop and turned it into an Italian Trattoria. We love it…it’s industrial, but somehow warm and romantic.
WHAT’S ALL THIS BUZZ ABOUT THE KITCHEN?
It’s a state-of-the-art European kitchen. (Really, it’s sexy. We’ve seen it make chefs cry.) To us it’s the Ferrari of kitchens and the driver is our wood-fired Tuscan grill.
DO YOU SUPPORT LOCAL?
AND WHO IS THE CHEF?
Their chef, Daniel Mezzolo, has been cooking up a storm all over Italy, the Caribbean and even rural Ontario. He’s fun to watch in action, so they added a handful of seats next to the open kitchen.
